With two hours of consulting work complete, Harry saves his work, and closes his laptop. There's not much here to be considered 'actionable' thought Harry. This heist was well-planned and clean. The FBI would be conducting interviews and maybe that'll lead to some break in the case. More likely he thought, someone might start to brag, or start to sell what they stole. At this point, all Harry could do was provide some creative possibilities for the investigators in the field to consider.
Harry's desire to be a detective had perhaps been a very young childhood interest. Its desire disappeared in his teenage years, and returned in his early 20s. Harry, as a normal human was good at seeing patterns, and the processes required to make those patterns possible. Harry was curious too. Harry was moral.
As a child Harry enjoyed watching Scooby Dooby Doo, See how the detectives search, see how the detectives work, see how they repeat until done! The fact that older kids were doing it made it even cooler. And sure there were brief periods of time in his teenage years when the desire to be a detective would return. For instance, once able to drive a car, he was jealous and amazed at how detectives get the best parking spots. Sometimes, a detective would have other people marking off and holding a parking spot. Talk about a job perk!
As a teenager, Harry was more interested in teenager concerns. Things like what Harry's teenage son is interested in, or not interested in as Harry might ponder when the trash barrel is not rolled out. The teenage years are commonly about the self and the community. This self and community dynamic can last beyond the teens. By the twenties, due to previous choices, or lack of choices, the individual is choosing a vocation, which settles a bit of self. A job has a way of making an adult of you.
Harry's first adult job was collecting water samples. It wasn't a bad gig. Here's how it worked. Two samples a day are collected from 8 sites. The samples are labeled and delivered to the lab for testing. In addition to collecting the samples a log of the surrounding environment is also noted. For some sites, there's a path where one wants to keep it the road less traveled. Reducing traffic, reduces the pollution of day hikers polluting the site. Not all sites, but some sites were this way. He often thought, it's outdoor work and it helps the community, what could be better?
Harry's next job, for the late fall and winter when water sampling was inspecting water run off for the presence of hay. Finding a lot of hay in the water could be because a straw wattle has broken and a means of erosion control is failing up stream.
